This is a plant that I haven't totally appreciated until this year. In fact, just last winter I said, "It has one more spring to produce, or I'm tearing it out!" Clearly this plant has good hearing! (This was a one gallon pot that I put in two years ago....the bonus is that it's evergreen).
Lovely. Blue is one of my favorite color and for some reason spring is the season with the most blue. Blue Grecian windflower, blue hyacinth, blue squill, and blue bells. Add a little pop of yellow near by.
ReplyDeleteLove this plant in bloom and out. The mounding growth is so wonderful under roses and shrubby plants.
ReplyDeleteWow! That must have been a great surprise to you, Tim! What a lovely sight to behold!
ReplyDeleteLooks beautiful Tim.
ReplyDeleteYou getting set for your forthcoming vacation by the way?
Wow, that's really a carpet of color! Happy Easter!
ReplyDeleteAlthough I've never tried growing this in my own garden I have come across it in others. In most it is weedy and hardly flowers but in one it is like your photograph - absolutely stunning. Cannot work out why - any ideas, Tim?

The only thing I can imagine is that I haven't fertilized it this year. It might be one of those plants that likes a little neglect. In past years I've found that it is all foliage and no bloom....perhaps because of too much nitrogen?
ReplyDeleteI like to see this Veronica. I just put this in also. I am inspired to see that this is how well it might spread. It is still very chilly here in Central NJ around Princeton University. Your garden inspires me. You are lucky to have created so many areas of interest and it keeps someone like me plodding on!
